I This book had what I was looking for. It has taught me that medical terminology is made up of root words, prefixes, and suffixes. To understand the terminology, the systems to which it is associated must first be understand.It was very easy to find what is needed since it is well organized. In the introduction the medical terminology is explained carefully. It covered on how to deconstruct a medical term and decipher its meaning and how to pluralize the term.I am able to understand the logic of medical terminology, its etymology, acronyms, eponyms, homonyms, and formation of plurals. I find its origin or etymology really interesting. It also does have illustrations. There are medical terms of the body systems included in the illustrations and medical terms related to body structure and organization which made it easier to understand.
I knew that medical terminologies are hard and complicated and should be left for people in those professions until came across this book on Amazon. The author has really simplified the medical terminology and they are now understandable to all lay me. It is amazing how I can be able to follow and understand this terminologies. This book made me realize that there is nothing one cannot get under the sun as long as you develop interest and you find people like the author of this book who make it easy for others. I will be referring to this book.
This book is great for anyone considering to go into the medical field or to learn medical terminology. The author did a great job making it simple to understand. This book on medical terminology was really thorough and complete, and I learned a great deal studying it. I particularly enjoyed the way things were broken down so simply so that they were easy to understand, and I feel like they make more sense. On a very basic level, I feel like certain terms that I would have a hard time even reading or sounding out, I can now understand based on root words, prefixes and suffixes, which make up the vast majority of medical terms. If you know the basics, you can know more complex things, and this book definitely enables you to do that. So, five stars and highly recommended.
I must say I was disappointed in this book. It does not really live up to its claim of making Medical Terminology easy...mainly because the book is simple but leave even the basics of Medical Terminology understanding, lacking and incomplete. This is just my opinion but I can't use it in my curriculum because it is to basic and leaves so many gaps you really don't get much even on the basics of the subject.
Great Medical Terminology Book. Well written, logical, easy to understand. I am entering a physician Assistant program and got this book to review medical terminology. Even though I use and am quite familiar with the terminology in my current occupation as a Respiratory Therapist, it was helpful for review.
So very pleased to have bought this book which is a good reference for my little sister.Exactly what she needs for her nursing course to expand her medical vocabulary.The book has extensive medical terminologies expounded for better understanding of its reader.Indeed a good book and would recommend it!
What I liked that the book is organized, structured, logical and consistent. Etymology of the medical terms and their roots are clearly explained. It has a detailed list of acronyms, eponyms and homonyms; description of body structure terms and meaning of body system terms.
